Karen Gillan comes face-to-face with her Doctor Who action figure!
She’s porcelain-featured, dainty and doll-like – and now, flame-haired Doctor Who star Karen Gillan has come face-to-face with her very own plastic likeness.
The Scottish actress seemed a little bemused to launch her very own action figure, as she gave it a sideways glance ahead of its launch at the Glasgow branch of toy store Hamleys.
The mini version of her character Amy Pond is five inches tall, comes with fully-poseable limbs and is fashioned out of hard-wearing moulded plastic.
With a slightly apprehensive look on her face, the doll is wearing cowboy boots, a blue denim mini-skirt, red jumper and dark brown jacket – with of course, the trademark fiery locks.
The toy is sure to be a hit with both young and old fans of the show, in which Matt Smith now stars as the 11th incarnation of the Time Lord. You can also buy a mini Tardis to go with the time-travelling toy pair and each plastic piece sells for around £15.
Karen, who’s currently filming her second series as the Doctor’s sidekick, will travel to Glasgow at the end of the month for a special signing for the hugely-successful sci-fi show.
Karen said: ‘I’m so excited to be travelling up to Scotland to introduce fans to my new Amy Pond action figure, I can’t wait to meet everyone.’
The actress will meet fans at Hamleys in the St Enoch Centre on August 28.
Doctor Who returns for a Christmas special at the end of the year, before returning for the next series proper in spring next year.
